What constitutes a half-day?
Morning half-days are from 8:55 to 12:25. Afternoon half-days are 12:25 to 3:55.

What is the procedure to obtain missed work when my child is sick?
Call before 9:30 a.m. on the day your child is sick. The office staff will email all teachers and ask for work to be sent to the office by 3:55. Under certain circumstances work may not be available, so it is best to call ahead to confirm work has been sent to the office.

What is the policy on birthday parties?
Birthday parties are not allowed during school hours. If parents wish, they may send in a healthy snack (See the distict's Health and Wellness website) to be eaten during lunch time in the cafeteria. Birthday party invitations may not be given out at school, unless they bring one for every child in the classroom.

What is the procedure if I need to have my child dismissed from school before 3:55?
Parents must come to the office to have a secretary or administrator call the room and asked that the child be sent to the office.

What is the procedure if my child needs to take medication?

  • Requests for students to take medication during school hours must be accompanied by a Medication Request form.
  • Each prescription medication to be administered by school personnel must be accompanied by a signed statement from the parent detailing the dosage to be administered and the time for administration. The child’s doctor must fill in the section stating that the medication must be administered at school.
  • Over-the-counter medications will not be administered by the nurse or designated school personnel unless requested specifically by the parent or legal guardian. These forms will be provided by the office to parents. No medication will be distributed by school personnel until a completed medication form is on file in the clinic.
  • All medications will be kept in a locked cabinet in the clinic or the office.

What is the procedure for parents during emergencies such as severe weather?
Please DO NOT call the school during severe weather. Administrators and staff will be busy insuring students's safety and communicating with necessary officials. Your calls may block needed lines or unnecessarily delay personnel. For details on how to stay informed click here. Plan ahead for emergencies by filling out the Inclement Weather form and sending the form to your child's teacher. Make sure you discuss the details of the plan with your child on a regular basis so he/she will know what to do if the plan needs to be activated.
