IB Programme

IB LogoBellevue Middle School offers the International Baccalaureate (IB) Middle Years Programme (MYP).  It is designed to help students develop the knowledge, understanding, attitudes, and skills necessary to participate actively and responsibly in a changing world.

The middle school years, encompassing early puberty and mid-adolescence, are a particularly critical phase of personal and intellectual development and require a programme that helps students participate actively and responsibly in a changing and increasingly interrelated world. Learning how to learn and how to evaluate information critically is as important as learning facts.

                                           The IB Mission Statement

The International Baccalaureate aims to develop inquiring, knowledgeable, and caring young people who help to create a better and more peaceful world through intercultural understanding and respect.

To this end the organization works with schools, governments, and international organizations to develop challenging programmes of international education and rigorous assessment.

These programmes encourage students across the world to become active, compassionate, and lifelong learners who understand that other people, with their differences, can also be right.

WEEKLY IB WORD OF THE MONTH NOMINATIONS & DRAWING:

To focus and highlight an IB word each month, we are starting a new student recognition program.  Students and teachers are encouraged to nominate students who exemplify the qualities represented by the IB word featured that month.  Nominations are placed in the drop box in the guidance office at any time. Nominations must include the student’s first and last name and the action or behavior they exhibited which demonstrated the qualities of the word of the month.  Each Friday, a winner will be drawn, and announced over the intercom.  Weekly winners will be featured in the Student Spotlight on the this webpage.  At the end of the month, all winners will be given a special treat by our principal, Dr. Hargis.
